Class year: 2023
School/Class Colors: Blue and Gold!
School Mascot: Raymond, The Shidler Tiger!
Facts, trivia, fun stuff about your class: We were the largest Kindergarten class in decades! We started day one with 24 students, and with addition of Randy the next week, we had 25. We were blessed to have Mrs. Tonya Lemon as our teacher. We learned the alphabet, our numbers from 1 to 100, colors, shapes, sizes, days of the week, months of the year, and the weather.
We went to computer lab EVERY DAY!! Our computer lab teacher was Ms. Tonya Davis. Twice a week we went to our Music lessons, with Mr. Highland as our teacher. We sang two songs in the Christmas Pageant! We had P.E. twice a week, with Coach Hauk. Once a week we went to the library and we were allowed to check out books.
In October of 2010, we went to the Shidler Volunteer Fire Department and learned about the fire trucks, rescue equipment and got to go inside the ambulance. For Halloween, we went downtown and went “Trick or Treating” at RCB Bank, Hole In The Wall Café, Mrs. Robinson Beauty Shop, Mrs. Rash’ Tag Agency, then to see Postmaster Marlene Kleinman at the Post Office, then across the street to Wehunt Trucking, down to see Lisa Patton at Shidler Telephone, the to J.R.’s Shamrock station, Rick and Paula’s ‘Country Store’, then down to Ms. Karen, the City Clerk, and Ms. Judy, the Librarian, and ended our journey at Mandy’s Café. We scored a lot of candy!!
We were well fed by Ms. Patty, Ms. Debbie and Ms. Sandra in the cafeteria. We loved Friday’s because it was “Biscuit and Gravy” day. We were ALWAYS very quiet in the cafeteria because we did not want to get in trouble with Mr. John Herzig or Mrs. Janice Finton.
Our classroom substitutes were Ms. Kat Jones, Ms. Regan Stevens and Ms. Joni Murphy. Our teacher’s assistant was Mr. Jeff.
We were well prepared for Kindergarten by Ms. Wilhelm and Ms. Thomasine. Many of us went through Head Start and Pre-K at Shidler schools.
We took a field trip on the bus to the Wichita Zoo, and we went on another field trip to OSU to see “Pippy Longstockings”. We also had ‘mini field trips’ in town. One day we went to the Post Office and looked around, the next day we went to RCB Bank, then we went to Wehunt Trucking and got to climb in the big semi trucks!
Without a doubt, we stole the show at the Christmas Pageant. ALL the classes were good, but we were the best. David Dougherty’s dancing left everyone laughing and happy!
We had “The Cowboy Club”, which consisted of Caleb Golay, Patrick Prater, Trevor Garrett and Joey Burdick.
We ‘rounded up’ imaginary cattle on the play ground.
We started out on August 8th, 2010 with the following students:

We gained Jayden Faulk and towards the end of the year he moved to Cedar Vale, KS., Aidan Mehoja (?) came from Texas, Hayden Wendt, came from Tonkawa, and 3 days before school ended Trucker (?) joined us.
Our room was kept clean by Ms. Sarah Murphy and Ms. Brittney Lemon. Ms.Suzanne Reynolds was our school secretary and bandaged our scrapes and checked our temperature when we didn’t feel well.
We were well prepared to go on to Ms. Whitney Pankratz’s First Grade. Ms. Tonya taught us well, as did our other teachers and the staff at the school.
We will be Oklahoma’s future doctors, rodeo stars, military hero’s, supermodels, scientists, geologists, nurses, astronauts, clergy, ranchers and business leaders. We have it on good authority that we are the smartest class to come out of Shidler Schools. And we look forward to being a credit to the good people and great name of the City of Shidler!
GO TIGERS!!
