Shidler football dates back to the early forties, but because of a death on the field, the sport was dropped until 1946. Roy Rousey coached the first football team Shidler had after the death. The team was inexperienced and only won two games and tied one game that year. Their best game was with A.M.A., which they won 19-0.

In 1948 Coach Art Fleak took over, pushing the Tigers to a 8-2 year, the best Shidler ever had. We played Cleveland for District championship, and Cleveland came out ahead by five points. Charles Yeager, Kenneth Ross, Charles Roe, and Ray Zink were chosen for honorable mention All-State.

In 1950 Coach Art Fleak led the Tigers to 6-5 year. Gayle Davis was chosen All-State, the first to ever come out of Shidler High School. In 1967, eighteen years later, Shidler Tigers came up with a 7-3 year, the second best year in history of Shidler, following up in '68 with the third best.

            Dear old Shidler High

            Our Alma Mater true

            We salute your colors

            Our own gold and blue

The tenderness we feel for thee

             Will climb to heights above

We sing to thee through eternity

                                                                 Our spirit shows our love

August 29, 2003 the class of 1951 donated this granite bench in memory of Judy and Dick Grant and is located on the Shidler High School campus.
