Hello Alumni!
Thank you to Betty Stevens Brown, class of 1943 for her donation for postage of this year’s newsletter. Due to rising costs in duplicating and mailing this will be the last newsletter. However – you WILL receive a postcard telling you when Homecoming is and other pertinent information regarding our events. Detailed information on Homecoming can be found on our website: www.district11alumni.com.
Our 51st annual reunion is approaching! This year Homecoming will be on September 30 and October 1 . We hope that you plan to join us! Alumni dues are $5.00 per year, per member. You may pay your dues on Homecoming or you may mail your dues any time throughout the year. If you pay your dues through the mail and wish to receive your membership card, please remember to send a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
It is only through your financial support that annual events are possible each year! Thank you for your patronage!

W.G. WARD SCHOLARSHIP
In 2010 the Association’s Executive Board awarded a $1,000.00 scholarship to:

The Executive Board will award one $1,000.00 scholarship in May. The recipient will be announced at the Annual Business Meeting on October 1st and address the Association at that time. Your donations have ensured the continuing support of our future alumni! Thank you!
FRIDAY, September 30 , 2011 REGISTRATION
Registration will be in the old gym from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Coffee and donuts will be available. Please call the high school office to reserve a classroom for class reunions at 918-793-2461.
SATURDAY, October 1 , 2011 REGISTRATION & EVENTS
Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the old gym with coffee and donuts. Registration is set up by class listings so PLEASE GIVE THE YEAR YOU GRADUATED and YOUR LAST NAME AT THE TIME OF GRADUATION. A list of those that register will appear in The Review. If you do not register on Homecoming or pay your dues by mail your name will not appear in The Review for attendance or support.
BUSINESS MEETING
The business meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the W.G. Ward Auditorium. We ask that Alumni be seated in the auditorium no later than 10:30 a.m. to allow the meeting to begin on time.
LUNCHEON
The luncheon will be served in the old gym at 12:30 p.m. The menu includes: ham, potatoes, salad, green beans, hot rolls, dessert, and drinks. The cost is $10.00 per plate.
PARADE
The Homecoming Parade will be held in downtown Shidler at 3:00 p.m, Saturday. The Alumni Association will sponsor the parade. All parade participants are asked to line up at City Hall no later than 2:15 p.m. for judging. Prizes will be awarded to Alumni in the following areas:

BARBECUE
The Barbecue will be Saturday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The menu includes: barbecue brisket sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, bread, dessert, and drinks. Tickets will be $6.00 per plate. Thank you for your continued support.
Alumni SOFTBALL Game
An Alumni Softball game will be held Saturday, October 1st, 7:00 pm. The Association invites all alumni who would like to relive their glory days to sign up! Come join fellow alumni for this fun filled softball event. Price of admission to the game is $3.00 for adults and $1.00 for children under 12. A concession stand will be available. Player registration is currently available by contacting Jodi Patton 918-793-2721, Leslie Jenkins 918-793-3631 or email district11alumni@yahoo.com. Deadline for registration is September 25th.

If you would like to reserve a room for a class reunion please contact the SHIDLER SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION. The Alumni Association holds homecoming events for the Association as a whole and does not arrange individual class reunions. Please call the high school office to reserve a classroom for class reunions at 918-793-2461. The following graduation years should be having reunions:

CLASS REUNION ORGANIZERS
The Association is asking class reunion organizers for their help in updating the Alumni address directory. It would be greatly appreciated if reunion organizers would mail their updated class address list to the Association. Your research will ensure that a classmate that has not received a homecoming notice will receive one the following year. Thank you for your help.
SPECIAL ALUMNI STAMP CANCELLATION
The Alumni Association, in conjunction with the Shidler Post Office, will be offering a special event pictorial stamp cancellation. This cancellation will be offered on September 30 & October 1 , 2011. Those who cannot attend Homecoming may obtain the cancellation by submitting a mail order request. Pictorial cancellations are available only for the date indicated, and requests must be postmarked no later than 30 days following the requested pictorial cancellation date.
All requests must include a stamped envelope or postcard bearing at least the minimum First-Class Mail postage. Items submitted for cancellation may not include postage issued after the date of the requested cancellation. Such items will be returned unserviced. After applying the pictorial cancellation the Postal Service returns the envelope or postcard through the mail. Customers who want their serviced item returned under protected cover should include a larger, stamped, self addressed envelope.

BOB COTHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Bob Cotham Memorial Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding senior each year.
The Cotham Scholarship is now part of the newly formed Shidler Schools Foundation. The monies donated to the scholarship fund are used 100% towards funding student scholarships each year. Donations can be sent to the following:

HERB BIAS MEMORIAL ELEMENTARY ATHLETIC FUND
In 1988 the Alumni Association voted to establish the Herb Bias Memorial Elementary Athletic Fund. This fund was created to ensure that elementary athletics endured during financial hardships. Mr. Bias was teacher, coach, and principal and believed athletics developed character. The Association donates $125.00 to the school each year and has assisted in the purchase of athletic equipment for the elementary, Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.
This yearly donation to the elementary comes directly out of the Association’s general fund. If you would like to support the continuation of this donation and honor Mr. Bias’ memory you may do so by making donations in Mr. Bias’ name.
ASHLEY ALEXANDER MEMORIAL MUSIC FUND
The Ashley Alexander Memorial Music Fund was officially opened and dedicated at the Association’s Annual Business Meeting in 2002. Since that time seven purchases have been made for the music program, including instruments. The fund currently stands at $2,376. Special thanks to all that helped initiate this memorial and continue to contribute to this fund. Your support has already made a difference!
